Pros and cons of iTM Matrix app for iPhone and iPad
iTM Matrix app good for
A great application that allows me to control Ableton Live and Reason very easily. Easy to configure but sometimes buggy when you need to save your settings.
With this App I created a whole series of custom buttons for my Torq DJ software. I also bought the iTM DJ App and use that as well with my Torq DJ system. The matrix is great for adding that touch of automation when you need to get out of your DJ booth or fire in a sound effect into the mix. Ive used it at a few gigs and it has worked great. I really like how I can customize pretty much everything and its actually pretty easy to set up. The developer was also very quick to answer all my questions. This App is a bargin for the price.
I just bought this software because i saw someone on iTune using it with Serato ssl and i would like to Know how to map buttons.
In Ableton Live, under "MIDI preferences", enable "REMOTE" for both the input and output ports of the ITM Midi port. Then MIDI map the buttons on the grid to whatever clips you want. The button will stay lit for as long as the clip is playing.
SOOOO dope and its free! Glad to see this finally get released, I hope these guys get the recognition they deserve.
Works great in Logic Pro 8 for playing and recording grooves in Ultrabeat. Cant want for the new version I saw on their site that has shiny new 3D pads. Tip: works much better (less latency) when connected via a computer to computer (iPhone in this case) network. Hopefully the company will continue to strive for better latency response over a wifi router?
Im using this to play my Roland td12 drums anywhere in the house--kids think Im cool.. Instant beats to accompany yo gabba gabba..Also-- using this to play rockband and guitar hero world tour just for kicks-- vids will be posted tonight under rockbandmidi on YouTube with instructions.
Some bad moments
Im using an iPhone 4 and everytime I try to switch to a custom layout the app crashes. I would not recommend this app.
Simply does not connect to win 7 from iPhone 4. No firewall, no blocked ports. Followed all documentation to the letter. Tried various ideas, but no joy after hours of headache. Buyer beware if running win7 and iPhone 4.
Does not work with Traktor using iOS 7 & Windows 8. Email inquiries have gone unanswered. The supporting documents on the web site are out of date. The support forums have been taken offline. The Twitter account hasnt posted anything in over a year. Caveat emptor.
